I Am Somebody

Tessa Pantini, an upper Eastside side woman, suddenly finds herself homeless after finding out her husband´s secrets and financial infractions. When he jumps off the fortieth floor of a nearby building, killing himself, she´s left alone with no money or place to live, learning the hard way how to navigate the mean streets of New York City.

Alice Popov grows up miserable, being told by her mom that she was born after a brutal rape. She marries an abusive man, Dwight, whom she has a son with. Surprisingly, Dwight dotes on their son, Ivan, but never teaches him respect or manners. To raise him up right, she decides to run away with Ivan to New York, but she is hauled down to the police station because of suspected child abuse, since she hit him on the bus. In this moment, she runs away from the place, leaving her son behind. With diabetes, she amputates her lower leg in order to save her life.

Patsy Corrigan works in a school cafeteria as kitchen manager, barely being paid minimum wage, living a normal life until she finds out she has a disease with no cure. After her medical bills, she owes a lot of money, so Patsy starts to take some money from the top and is blackmailed by her coworker, Gertrude Crump, when she finds out the scheme. One night, going her home to give her share, Patsy witness Gertrude is dead after falling down the stairs, and steals her money. But a neighbor sees the act and as the police chases after Patsy, she goesto New York with no plans whatsoever.

One day, she suddenly remembers everything: the house on the lake and how she had left her chair for a minute, and when she returned, her daughter disappeared into the dark water.  When a series of random murders of homeless women occur, Tessa and her newly pack of bedraggled friends must find a way to solve the killings in order to survive.
